Windows support is coming on November the 12th, this year. We are currently porting our software.

STANDALONE

The evosizer is available as standalone application for Windows and Mac OS. It uses the audio equipment connected to the system for its output and can also be integrated in modern sequencer systems using the embedded rewire support.

MAX FOR LIVE

Since the evosizer was developed with the help of the Max/MSP programming environment, it is also available as a plug-in for the “Max For Live” expansion of the popular “Ableton Live” sequencer. Both feature the same structure under the hood. The user interface, however, was adapted to the layout of the sequencer and integrates seamlessly into your workflow.

SOURCE CODE

All versions and designs of the evosizer are available for further development and/or modification as a full Max/MSP or Max For Live project.

THE CONCEPT

A SIMPLE VIRTUAL ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

The internal structure of the sound synthesis is the same as that of an analog synthesizer. It has two oscillators for which the wave form and the respective parameters, such as PWM and frequency modulation, can be adjusted. It has a filter section that is modeled after the legendary “Moog” filters. There are also two independent LFOs and two independent envelope generators. An effects section with chorus and echo effects adds final touches to the sound.

EVOLUTIONARY MODULATION CONCEPTS

The ingredients, so to speak, in the evosizer aren’t particularly spectacular. This composition can be found relatively often and the subtractive synthesis is not a sensational innovation. What makes it so special, however, is its complex modulation system. For example, each parameter (except for the effects section) can be modulated from various points. The envelope and LFO generators can be used simultaneously to modulate various sound shaping parameters. The data recorded through evo’s keys can also be used to control every sound shaping setting. Furthermore, each section is available on a per voice basis (except for the effects station).

SOME LAST IMPORTANT THINGS

COMES WITH READY-TO-USE PRESETS

The evosizer comes with a handful of presets for you to try out, discover and use as templates when creating your own sounds. This allows you to get started right away. An import/export function also lets you save preset banks and share them with others.

OPEN SOURCE CODE

Our software is based on a simple philosophy - taking advantage of evo’s power to demonstrate its advantages over standard keyboards. This is why we don’t view our software as a commercial product, but still put the same passion into its development as we do with evo. This is also why our software is free and available as source code for further developments or modifications.

AUTOMATED CONNECTION

The evosizer also benefits from evo’s network interface. All it needs is to be connected with the cables. A small dialog automatically gives you information about the devices that are connected. All you have to do is decide which evo they should use. There is no need for a complicated configuration process.
